Settlement Agreement Advice for Employees in Gloucester

We advise employees in Gloucester who have been given a settlement agreement by their employer. This may follow a redundancy process, workplace dispute, grievance, disciplinary or performance issue, or a proposed agreed departure.

Before you sign, we can review the agreement in full, check the financial terms and explain the legal effect of the provisions included in the document. If anything should be amended, we can also advise on negotiating a settlement agreement .

Who Can We Help?

  • Employees offered a settlement agreement during redundancy or restructuring
  • Employees asked to leave under an agreed exit arrangement
  • Employees involved in a workplace dispute or grievance
  • Employees offered an agreement following disciplinary, performance or capability concerns

What Do We Review?

A settlement agreement can deal with much more than the headline compensation figure. We review the complete document, including:

  • Compensation or termination payment
  • Salary and other payments already owed
  • Notice pay
  • Outstanding holiday pay
  • Statutory redundancy pay where applicable
  • Tax wording
  • Reference wording
  • Confidentiality terms
  • Restrictions after your employment ends
  • Employment claims covered by the agreement
  • Employer contribution towards legal fees
  • Termination date and practical arrangements

How Quickly Can We Review Your Agreement?

Settlement agreements are often time-sensitive. We aim to review straightforward agreements within 24 hours of receiving the complete documents, subject to solicitor availability and the complexity of the agreement.

  • Most straightforward reviews targeted within 24 hours
  • Urgent and same-day appointments may be available
  • Tell us the deadline given by your employer when you contact us
  • More complex negotiations may require additional time

Who Pays the Legal Fees?

For a standard, straightforward settlement agreement review, our fixed fee is usually £350–£500 plus VAT, depending on the agreement. In most cases, your employer pays for or contributes towards this cost through the legal fee provision in the settlement agreement.

This means there is usually nothing for you to pay personally for a standard review and sign-off.

If your employer's contribution does not cover the full fee, or if further negotiation or additional work is required, we will tell you before any extra cost is incurred. Where appropriate, we will first ask your employer to increase their contribution.

What if the Agreement Needs Changing?

You do not have to accept every term exactly as drafted. If the payments appear incorrect, the reference needs amending, a restriction may affect your next role or another provision requires attention, we can advise on the amendments that should be considered.

If instructed, we can contact your employer or their solicitor to propose amendments or negotiate revised terms on your behalf.

We advise employees throughout Gloucester, including the city centre, Longlevens, Kingsholm, Barnwood, Hucclecote, Abbeydale, Quedgeley and surrounding areas. Appointments can be arranged by telephone, video or in person by arrangement.
